Most of us know what it's like to have to borrow money, whether we've turned to a financial institution, relative, or friend for help, and some of us probably borrow so often that it just seems like a normal way of life. But what if you were told you that God doesn't want you to borrow - ever? What if you were told you that you are supposed to be able to get what you need when you need it? Too good to be true? Deut. 15:6. For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to may nations but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations but they shall not reign over you. There you have it.
We're not supposed to have to borrow for anything, but rather be in a position to lend where necessary. So why is it that our lives are so full of lack? Because we keep putting ourselves into debt instead of walking in our authority as the redeemed. When Jesus began His ministry He gave a list of what that ministry included in Luke 4:18-19. #1 preach the gospel to the destitute and needy. #2 heal emotional needs. #3 deliver those in darkness. #4 heal physical needs. #5 free the oppressed. #6 preach prosperity, restoration, and full dominion over Satan's kingdom.
Number 6 has managed to capture a verse all it's own and that's the verse of focus here. When Jesus said in verse 19 that He came to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, He was actually saying that the time had come for God's family (us) to be fully reinstated into our original position. And our original position was that of power, anointing, prosperity, health, etc. Adam and Eve had all that until Adam bowed his knee and surrendered that authority to the devil in the garden of Eden. Since then we've been living substandard lives of bad health, broken relationships and ruined finances. But Jesus changed all that when He went to the cross and bought back our authority. Now our authority comes through His name, and no longer do we have to live in sickness, oppression, and poverty. Phil.4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil.4:19 And my God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Deut. 28:1-13 Blessed ... blessed ... blessed....So how do we go about implementing this change into our lives and going from in debt to debt free? Well, first we need to realize that it's not up to us to meet our own needs, it's up to God to meet them. Matt. 6:20 Look at the birds of the air. They neither sow, nor reap, nor gather, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? In this, however, we also need to realize that we don't have to have everything we want right then and there. Heaven forbid we should become spoiled and unmanageable. Second, we need to learn how to trust in God. When we have a need, we must look to Him to show us the proper way in which to handle the situation, instead of running out and charging up the credit cards and financing ourselves for umpteen years, and so forth. And third, learn to wait on God. Be patient, His timing is perfect. He won't forget about you. Isaiah 49: 15-16 I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are before me continually.
If you're in debt now, God can show you how to be debt free, and if you are already debt free, God can show you how to stay that way. Old religious traditions say we must be broke, sick, and downhearted to be holy. (Gloom, despair and agony on me!) But this is a lie. We are made in the image and likeness of God and He is anything but broke, sick, and downhearted. So if you're looking for financial freedom, health, and many other blessings, then you're looking for holiness, which means you need to start walking in your authority as the redeemed and stop walking according to the ways of the world.
God bless you.
