Why are we here? What is our purpose in life? These are questions asked by every one of us at some point in time during our lives. By this day and age most of us are aware of the fact that we have, indeed, been created for a specific purpose or calling, though, sadly enough, many of us are confused as to what that may be. We move about from job to job, location to location, even relationship to relationship in an endless search for the truth of where we belong. So, how do we find out who we are and what it is we've been called to do. Fortunately, the answers to these questions are refreshingly simple.
First, the most important thing you must realize is that no one's calling is any greater or lessor than another's. Without the teacher there would be no student, and without the student there would be no reason to teach. We are all created equal, period. Romans 12:3-4. It is not for us to think of ourselves as more highly than we ought, but as soberly, as God has dealt to each one of us a measure of faith. For we have many members in one body, but not all members perform the same function. With that out of the way it's time to find out about our calling. Ready? Here we go. What is your dream, that special 'thing' God placed in your heart that you would love to do above all else? That, my covenant partner, is your calling. Too simple you say? Well, who told you God created your life to be difficult and full of mystery? Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts I think toward you. Thoughts of peace and not of evil. To give you a future and a hope.
Now, was that really so hard? When you do what it is you love, it is not your job it is your
life, something you put your heart and soul into it. Most of the time this will have a crucial
impact on someone else's life, and when you bless someone else, this pleases God and He will in
turn bless you. Now, please don't misunderstand. Not everyone's calling is meant to be their
full-time career. Most people don't awaken to their callings until they reach their thirties. Do
they then forsake everything of the past and focus solely on their election from that point on?
Not necessarily. If your calling is to teach about this that, or the other and you've decided to do
so X amount of hours during the week or month, you can still have a full-time job in a totally
different field at the same time. It is completely up to you. I stress, however, that it would be
wise to instill you election into your life by at least some degree. Otherwise, fifteen, twenty-five,
even thirty years down the line when it's all said and done, you may end up feeling as though
you've missed something important. Something you may not be able to grasp a hold of again. 2
Peter 1:10 Therefore, brethren, be
even more diligent to make your call
and election sure, for if you do these
things you will never stumble.
