A gentleman friend once said to me, "I believe everything the Bible says except for the part about how God created the universe all alone. He had to have a female helper because we're men made in His image and likeness and we NEED women!" Once I managed to contain my laughter, I told him that I agreed with him, for the most part, and then I explained why.
In Genesis 2:18 God noticed that it was not good for man to be alone, that he needed a helper comparable to him. So at this point why didn't God just make another man from the ground like Adam?Well, Genesis 2:20-23 explains that God realized the only comparable helper for Adam had to come from within him. And there's only one way God could have known that. Because He has a Comparible Helper within Him as well. And aren't we're made in His image and likeness? I explained to my gentleman friend that I believe at least 10 percent of God was of the female persuasion - and it was that 10 percent that served as His comparable helper as He formed the universe and everything in it. Besides, if a small percentage of God isn't female, then how is it that He is able to successfully minister and understand women so intimately? Women, too, are made in the image and likeness of God, are they not?
Am I threading on thin ice by calling God part woman? I don't think so. I think God is pleased that I recognize Him as a multifaceted being. I mean, we know He can do all things. So why is it so difficult to believe that He can be all things, too? Whether it's true or not really doesn't matter. The point of this lesson is to open your mind and heart to the many wonderful things of God and to entice you into becoming as intimate with Him as possible.
